Calendar - 2010 Dates

Below the calendar, you will also find detailed info on upcoming events and dates.  


Mark your calendar with important dates below.  Some dates & details are still to be decided, and the calendar above will be updated with info as it becomes available!

- Online Registration opens 2/6/10.   Football registration extends through the start of the season on most levels as space, equipment & league rules permit.

- Football Committee Meetings, 1st Tuesday of each month 7:30 p.m.  Check website for location!  All football parents are invited to attend/contribute.  Attendance at two meetings is required for voting privileges. 

- Football organization Subcommittee Meetings (Budget/Finance, Communications, Coaches/Leadership, Competition, Fields/Equipment), Executive Board and Cheerleading Committees meet on separate dates.  See Abooma calendar for more information or contact a Chairperson for more information)

- MAYAA General Membership meetings are held on 1st Wednesday of each month (except July, 7/21 at Old Natl Pike Park) at 8:00 p.m. Mt. Airy Middle School.  All football parents are encouraged to attend at least two meetings in order to be considered active with full voting rights. 

- Equipment distribution: VARSITY TEAM ONLY Friday, July 9 from 6 - 7:30 p.m.  SATURDAY JULY 10 - JV TEAM 9AM-10:30AM; PONY TEAM 10:30AM - NOON; MINI PONY TEAM NOON - 1:30 PM  Players please come at your team's alloted time and you must be accompanied by a parent to sign for your helmets, pads and practice uniforms.  Coaches will be there to ensure proper fit of your equipment.  (Game uniforms are handed out at a later date.)
 
A final Equipment Handout date will be Saturday, July 17 from 9-11 a.m. however, you must inform your Head Coach that you plan to attend on that date.  Arrangements to pick up equipment during Gold Camp hours must be made with your team's Head Coach who must also be present to distribute your equipment.


- Monday, July 19 - Bulldogs Football Summer Conditioning & Skills Camps at Bulldog Stadium/MAYAA Fields (GOLD) or 144/Old National Pike Park Fields (BLUE/WHITE) (See Registration page for additional info)

- New & Returning Parent Orientation - ALL TEAMS - WEDNESDAY JULY 21 immediately following Blue/White Camp at 7:30 p.m.

- Thursday, July 22 - First day of Conditioning Practice (Mandatory - Mini-Pony & Pony)*

- Saturday, July 24 - First day in Pads (Mandatory - Mini-Pony, Pony & JV) Check with your Head Coach for times and what equipment you should wear/bring.

                                Mini Pony Team ONLY - Parent Orientation 9:00 am before practice

                                Varsity Team ONLY - Team Breakfast/Parent Orientation 9:30 am @ MAYAA Fields

                                Pony Team and JV TEAM - Parent Orientation immediately following practice. 

- Monday, July 26 - First day in Pads/Helmets (Mandatory - Varsity)

                                
- From July 26 until "Back to School", Contact/Tackle football practices are held Monday - Friday 5:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and most Saturday mornings.  Coaches will provide more information to their individual teams.  Flag teams practice Tuesdays and Thursdays starting August 3 through the end of their season.  Only Mini-Pony teams have Wednesdays off during summer practices. 

- Coaches Safety Training 6-9p.m - CPR/First Aid, contact commissioner Brian Pannell for more information

_Tuesday, August 3 - FLAG FOOTBALL 1st Practice 6-7:30 p.m. Parent Orientation immediately following.

- Saturday, August 7 - Bulldogs host THE DOOR WILDCATS (Pop Warner team from Baltimore) at 10:00 a.m. JV & Varsity only

- Friday, August 13 - Golf Tournament (NO PRACTICE FOR ANY LEVEL)

- August 14 - MANDATORY Weigh In for all Tackle/Contact Teams, Heritage Farm Park, Walkersville, 8:00 AM

- August 14 - Scrimmage (All levels) vs. St. Francis Wolfpack and Arbutus Golden Eagles, NOON (location TBD)

- August 21 - 1st Game of the 2010 Season! AWAY vs. Brunswick...check with your Head Coach/Team Mom for specifics

- week of August 23 - practices go to Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (at 144 fields)

- September 7 - first practice back at MAYAA Fields for remainder of season!

- Pep Rally on FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 10 before our First Home Game!  Spotlighting Flag Teams and Cheerleaders!

- Midseason Weigh Ins - Sat. September 18 (if you missed the initial weigh ins, this is your last opportunity to qualify to play this season, some players may also elect to have their "red stripe" removed - speak with your coach to see if you need to attend this weigh in.

- HOMECOMING TBD!!!!!!

- Special Tribute Ceremony to 8th Grade Players and Cheerleaders - Friday, October 15, 7:00 p.m.

- Flag Football - "Friday Night Lights" End of Season Celebration - October 22

- DII Bowl Series Games - October 23 - Locations set by MVYFL

- Playoffs Round 1 = October 30 & 31 (Locations determined by Pony Record)

& Round 2 = November 6 & 7 - SuperBowl - Hosted by FSK - Saturday, November 13

- Football Banquet - Saturday, December 4th! (More info TBA)
